Troubleshooting

Overview

You have any problem accessing the application, using the application? All your questions and problems will be answered here.

 

1. I am trying to log in to song Journals but it takes me to the log in page every time I click on the Sign In button. What might be wrong?

 

There is a possibility that your browsers has cookies restriction set or disabled. Check and make sure that your cookies are enabled. Please follow the instructions below to enable your cookies

 

  1. If you are using Internet Explorer, to enable your cookies go to Tools ->Internet Options. Go to the Privacy tab and at the Settings frame, move the slider to medium high position and click on Apply and OK. Try logging in again, and this time it should not take you back to the login page.
  2. Firefox - Go to Tools menu, select Options. Go to the Privacy tab. At the Cookies frame, check Accept cookies from sites and Accept third party cookies and click on OK button.
  3. Google Chrome - Click on the Spanner like icon at the top right corner of your browser, select Options. From the resulting dialogue box, select the tab Under the Hood. On the Cookie Setting at the bottom of the dialogue window, select Allow all cookies and click on Close.
  4. Opera - Go to Tools, select Preferences, go to Advanced Tab and select Cookies. Click on the option button Accept Cookies and click on OK.

 

2) I have enabled the cookies but I still cannot go beyond the log in page.

Try clearing you cache then restart your browser. To clear your cache follow the instructions below

  • For firefox browser - Click on Tools menu and select "Clear Private Data"
  • Internet Explorer - Click on Tools menu and select Internet Options. Click on the General tab and on the Browsing History frame, click on the Delete button.
  • Google Chrome - Click on the Spanner like tool at the top right corner of your browser and select Clear Browsing data.
  • Opera - Click on Tools menu, select Delete private data and check the  Delete entire cache, an alternative method is to press CTRL+F12 on your Keyboard, then go to the advanced tab, select History and click on the button Empty Now.

 

3) I forgot my password.

 

If you forget your password, click on the link "Forgot your password" or this link http://www.songjournals.com/index.php?page=password_reminder, then issue your email address and a new password will be sent to your mail. If you dont like the new password, you can always change it by going to "my profile" and clicking on the link "Change Password". The forget password screen is shown below

 

 

4. I am not successful in searching for songs for my journal.

There is a possibility that you are not checking the criteria of searching. If you search without checking the criteria you will be prompted with the following message "Please select whether your are searching by Artist or by Song Title". Remember you can search a song by Artist name or song name, therefore you are required to check either before you click on the button "Search".

 

5) I would like to delete or edit a song Journal that I have just created, how do I go about that?

To delete or edit your Journal, go to "my profile" you will see a "My Journal" frame and to delete it you can select the delete icon or the edit icon

 

6) I cannot attach a photo

Is you photo more than 256KB in size? If so, then that is the reason as to why you cannot upload it. Try resizing you photo to a size lesser than 256KB and upload it again.

 

7) How do I add friends?

Check on the songs added by other users, click on the user name. It will open the user's song journal profile. Below the profile there is a link "Add as a friend". Check out this link for illustration on how to add or delete friend http://manual.songjournals.com/Profile-and-Your-Account.

 

8) I have seen some clips posted by a particular SongJournal user. The user seems to have a taste of songs similar to mine, I want to add the user as a friend, but I cannot see anywhere on his profile where I can add user as a friend.

This is because the user has put his Journal to be private. Private Journals cannot be viewed by other users.

 

9) How do I enable and disable notifications to be sent to my email when someone comments on my journals?

On "My Profile" page there is a section for Email Notifications, you can choose the option that you want to get emails from. See this link for more information http://manual.songjournals.com/Profile-and-Your-Account

 

10) I do not want other users to comment on my journal. How do I restrict that?

When users comment on your journal, it means that the status of you Journal is public. Thus to restrict users from posting comments on your journal, you may want to make it private. This can be done from "My Profile" page or just going straight to "My Journals" page.
